Rambling wild

A blank canvas awaiting my thoughts and views on what's happening anywhere - where ever my mind takes me. A page to let the ramblings of a woman fall into, coalesce and perhaps create a painting.

My two cents on Terri Schiavo's case

It is cruel to keep the body alive by forced feeding after the mind has died .
However, it is also equally cruel to allow the body to die slowly by withholding food and water.
What is the moral difference between withholding food versus lethal injection ? At least, the latter would be fast and kinder in my opinion. Also, the law allows the witholding of food but not euthanasia.

Does advance directive allow one to specify lethal injections as an exit option once one enters vegetative state? And even if it did, who would administer it? Just wondering. Anyway, Advance directive is a must. After the publicity of Terri Schiavo's case, none of us have an excuse not to have one! Not having one would cause problems for those able-bodied relatives and guradian. I feel for both sides equally. A living & breathing body is such a symbol of hope and it must be unbearable for the family to give that up. But for past fifteen years, she really did not have a life.
Such a sad personal story and now the whole world knows.
